Keller Williams Realty of Burbank, Glendale and La Cañada Flintridge are proud to present the 9th annual Thank-A-Soldier Care Package Assembly day. Their goal is to collect items to put in care packages to ship to our brave brothers and sisters currently serving in all branches of the United States Armed Forces overseas. Last year, they sent about 800 boxes. This year, their goal is to pass 1,000! The Charitable Foundation of the Rotary Club of Burbank is the official fiscal sponsor for the Thank-A-Soldier Care Package Assembly day. We are going to deviate from our Politics and Voting Month this week so that we can have a very special preview of an upcoming TEDx talk. Rennie Gabriel is an award-winning, best-selling author, wealth coach, and UCLA instructor. He will be joining us to discuss how he believes that building wealth with purpose can transform the world. Rennie went from broke at age 50 to a multi-millionaire in a few years. He now is able to live on his investment income and donates 100% of his book, training and coaching profits to www.ShelterToSoldier.org where dogs are rescued from deadly environments and trained as service animals for post 9/11 soldiers who have returned with Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). |

Nov. 05, 2019 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
November is "Sports Month". We don't have to look far to find scholarly articles and tragic videos about the impact of traumatic brain injuries on young athletes. Today we know more about TBI's and their chronic effects than we did even 10 years ago. Thanks to the research that is being done in this area, and to the athletes who have graciously made life saving donations to these projects, we are all able to benefit from it and work towards making sports safe for all to participate in. Margarita Oveian, MD, specializes in neurology and neurodiagnostics. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and her residency in neurology was completed at LAC + USC Medical Centers. She is currently working at Providence St. Joseph's Hospital Neurovascular Center. She will be joining us to discuss how recent research has begun to shape our understanding of the impact of athletic trauma. Also, this week we will be celebrating our October Birthdays (sorry we are late) and welcoming two new members into our club. It is going to be a great meeting and we look forward to seeing you! |
