In July 2025, our Rotary Club joined forces with Burbank Sunrise Rotary, Zonta Club of Burbank Area and Kiwanis Club of Burbank to host the Red Sand Project Burbank—a community art installation raising awareness about human trafficking. Friends from Rotary District 5280 showed up too!

About 100 participants poured red sand into pavement cracks, symbolizing those who have “fallen through the cracks” of society.
We had music, inspiring speakers including Vice Mayor Tamala Takahashi, and powerful messages from Journey Out, ZOE International, and more.

And attendees were treated to Handel’s Ice Cream sandwiches!
Thank you to everyone who came out, volunteered, and helped make this event a success. Together, we’re shining a light on a critical issue and showing what community can do.
