Retired Fire Captain Patrick Easley and his team at the Ventura Training Center are "heroes" for people every day – in all sorts of ways.

This week Burbank Noon Rotarians joined together to learn about the Ventura Training Center. It is a joint operation between Cal Fire, the Civilian Conservation Corps and the California Department of Corrections. This facility opened its doors in October of 2018 with a class of 20 inmates that had been vetted and approved for participation by their CCC supervisors. If admitted, inmates participate in full-fledged Firefighter I training and receive reintegration and anti-recidivism support as they transition from offender to citizen heroes. Gathered members were also able to hear from a graduate of the program who explained how truly life-changing this amazing program is. She now participates as a member of the staff.
